Virginia Longo
Music educator and music teacher educator
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Violin (2002) and Literature at the University of Pisa (2004).
Special Course - Postgraduate Course in Music and Dance Education at the Orff Institute in Salzburg (2008.09).
3-years certification program by the San Francisco International Orff Course - USA (2017-2018-2019).
Since 2011 she has been the music teacher at the International School of Bergamo, an IOSFS Associated School since 2018.
As a freelancer, she also collaborates with different institutions as a teacher educator. In particular, recently she has been leading workshops based on the Orff-Schulwerk approach for music educators and class teachers in collaboration with Centro Didattico Musicale in Rome (2016) and SIMEOS Verona (2018 and 2021). Virginia’s main areas of interest are the integration of the Orff-Schulwerk approach and the curriculum promoted by the International Baccalaureate Organisation, music in the Early Year and the integration of the Arts with a special focus on music for promoting sustainability.
Virginia also leads workshops for librarians and pediatricians for promoting active music-making within the family as a good practice for emotional and physical well-being, in collaboration with the Italian National Program “Born for Music”.
In addition to her activity at the ISBergamo, after several years of collaboration, in 2020 Virginia was invited to become a board member of SIMEOS Verona, the oldest Orff-Schulwerk association in Italy and IOSFS member.
